A new twist in the Felipe Massa tale

4 May

Since 2010 he hasn’t had a race win and it’s been over a season since he’s even stood on the podium, but today the tale of Felipe Massa troubles at Ferrari took an unexpected twist, as Felipe’s team mate Fernando Alonso came out today and said how Felipe is “one of the best drivers in the world” and that Ferrari shouldn’t replace him despite his poor form. This could just be a ego thing for Fernando as at the moment Fernando is definitely the best driver for Ferrari and if Felipe was to be replaced the new driver could prove to be better. But I doubt this is the case as Fernando rarely backs up a team mate and is much more regularly slagging them off rather than giving them praise.

In recent months the calls for Massa to be replaced at Ferrari have intensified, but it still looks likely that he’ll last this season, and now everything for him will be about trying to secure the drive for next year. Especially with gossip of Mark Webber driving for Ferrari next year intensifying.
