Speed Trap Championship post Spain 12

15 May

Who was the fastest last weekend? Lets find out. Takes place in FP3 and quite simply you get points for being the fastest through the speed trap. Fastest takes home 15 points, 2nd gets 12, 3rd 9, 4th 6 and 5th gets 3. Here are the drivers standings:

  1. Sergio Perez               Sauber           42          (last week 1st)
  2. Kimi Raikkonen       Lotus             42          (3rd)
  3. Romain Grosjean     Lotus             27          (2nd)
  4. Kamui Kobayashi     Sauber          21           (4th)
  5. Lewis Hamilton       McLaren       15          (5th)
  6. Daniel Ricciardo     Toro Rosso    15         (9th)
  7. Jean-Eric Vergne    Toro Rosso    15         (11th)
  8. Nico Rosberg            Mercedes       12         (6th)
  9. Heikki Kovalainen  Caterham      12         (7th)
  10. Michael Schumacher  Mercedes   9          (8th)
  11. Nico Hulkenburg     Force India   9           (10th)
  12. Paul Di Resta            Force India   6           (12th)

The fight is on at the top between Sergio Perez and Kimi Raikkonen who both lead over 3rd place Romain Grosjean by 15 points. It was a very good weekend for both the Toro Rosso drivers, Ricciardo moved up 3 places in the standings and Vergne moved up 4. This isn’t a competition for the big teams to compete in, Ferrari and Red Bull haven’t got any points along with Jenson Button.

Teams Standings:

  1. Lotus                 69         (last week 1st)
  2. Sauber               63         (2nd)
  3. Toro Rosso       30        (4th)
  4. Mercedes          21         (3rd)
  5. Force India      15         (5th)
  6. McLaren           15         (6th)
  7. Caterham          12         (7th)

With each team able to pick up 27 points a weekend and with the balance of the competition constantly changing this is anyone’s guess as to which team will win. After their driver picked up 15 points Toro Rosso moved up to 3rd in the constructors championships, whilst Lotus doubled their lead from 3 to 6 points.
