Western Championship standings post Monaco 12

2 Jun

The second round of the Western Championship was in the historic F1 city of Monaco. This championships are scored by standings from the race and go by the pre 2010 scoring system (10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1). Here are the drivers standings:

  1. Fernando Alonso                 Ferrari             14           (previously standing 2nd)
  2. Pastor Maldonado               Williams         10          (1st)
  3. Nico Rosberg                         Mercedes        10          (7th)
  4. Mark Webber                        Red Bull           10          (-)
  5. Sebastian Vettel                   Red Bull             8           (6th)
  6. Kimi Raikkonen                  Lotus                   6           (3rd)
  7. Romain Grosjean                Lotus                   5           (4th)
  8. Lewis Hamilton                  McLaren             5           (8th)
  9. Kamui Kobayashi               Sauber                 4           (5th)
  10. Felipe Massa                        Ferrari                3           (-)
  11. Paul Di Resta                       Force India        2           (-)
  12. Nico Hulkenburg                Force India        1           (-)

As expected it’s all change at the top. Fernando Alonso has thrown his name into the hat early on, but the three drivers only 4 points behind him will be raring to catch him and take this championship.

Constructors standings:

  1. Red Bull                  18            (5th)
  2. Ferrari                     17            (3rd)
  3. Lotus                        11            (1st)
  4. Williams                 10           (2nd)
  5. Mercedes                 10          (6th)
  6. McLaren                    5          (7th)
  7. Sauber                        4          (4th)
  8. Force India               3          (-)

No team has stayed in the same position after the first two races. One big standout is how badly McLaren are doing despite their dominant start to the World Championship. Toro Rosso are the only established team to have picked up 0 points so far, but they only just missed out after a badly timed pit stop which lost them 7th place and 2 points.
